There are two ways to add ad units in Google Ad Manager: manually creating them one by one, or uploading them in bulk using a CSV file. Here’s a breakdown of both methods:
Manually Creating an Ad Unit:
- Sign in to your Google Ad Manager account.
- Navigate to the “Inventory” section and then click on “Ad units”.
- Click the “New ad unit” button.
- Choose whether you want to create a top-level ad unit (independent) or a child ad unit (nested under another unit).
- Enter a unique code and name for your ad unit. Use a clear naming convention for easy identification later.
- (Optional) Add a description for the ad unit.
- Define the ad unit size (fixed size for websites, smart banner for mobile apps).
- Configure additional settings like targeting options and ad formats (optional).
- Click “Save” to create the ad unit.
Adding Ad Units in Bulk with a CSV File:
- Download the sample CSV file provided by Google Ad Manager [[invalid URL removed]]. This file includes all the relevant fields and their formats for creating ad units.
- Open the CSV file and fill in the details for each ad unit you want to create. Refer to the descriptions in the downloaded file for each field.
- Save your edited CSV file.
- Go back to the “Inventory” section and “Ad units” in Google Ad Manager.
- Click the “Upload” button and choose “Browse” to select your saved CSV file.
- Click “Upload and validate” to check for any errors in your file. Make corrections and re-upload if necessary.
- Once validated, click “Confirm” to create all the ad units from your CSV file.
